Book Week presents the perfect opportunity to reflect on all the great things that reading makes possible. The importance of reading cannot be underestimated. Recognising the benefits of reading and acknowledging the work of our wonderful Australian authors and illustrators is the main focus of Book Week but, sometimes, it is hard for people to see beyond the celebratory parade and character costumes that are an integral part of the events that schools, and libraries hold to launch the week in a fun and engaging way.
We would like to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our librarian, Sheree Morrison, who has, as usual, organised a fantastic display, in our school library, to help our students to engage with the work of Australian authors and illustrators, during Book Week. I would also like to thank our teachers for supporting this important week and for modeling a love of reading for our students.
On Friday, 27th August, we celebrated our love of books with our whole school parade. It was amazing, and the costumes were so very clever. It is such a great opportunity to appreciate the talented authors and illustrators that we have in this country.
